Database management

Updated on September 13, 2021

Each Pega® Platform system stores rules, work, and other data in a relational database, such as those provided by Oracle, IBM, or Microsoft. This database is known as the Pega Platform database. By using a commercial database, you benefit from the flexibility, power, and scalability that these mature database products provide, and your IT professionals can install, support, tune, back up, and manage the Pega Platform database just as they do with other business database assets. Select the vendor that works best for your organization's needs.

For most tasks, application designers do not work directly with the database and do not need to understand its structure or details. Designers can define new fields (properties) and new classes without waiting for a database expert to make changes.
