IE freezes when printing from the Pega Image Viewer

Summary



While printing a TIFF file from the Pega Image Viewer, the IE window freezes up and user has to end the task from the Task Manager. The IE browser window with the image is frozen but user is able to go to other pages. 

This occurs after upgrading to Windows 7 and IE 9.

Steps to Reproduce



Print from Pega Image Viewer version 6.01.0001 April 12, 2010 on Windows 7 with IE 9 to observe the issue.

Root Cause



The version of the Pega Image Viewer for PRPC 5.4 SP2 - 6.01.0001 April 12, 2010 will have problems on Windows 7. This is an old VB 6 OCX control and even though the date of the control is April 2010, the control was not tested within Windows 7. 

Resolution



This issue is resolved through the following Local-change:

Use the new Silverlight version of the Pega Image Viewer that is compatible with Windows 7 and newer IE versions. Use Pega 7.1.7 version of  
PegaImageViewer.xap.
