Offline Support

The Pega® Platform provides the ability to build offline-enabled applications. They offer a seamless experience for mobile employees who might work from locations with no network connectivity or whose devices might lose a network connection. Offline workers can log in, create cases, open items from their worklist, and complete assignments. Offline-enabled applications use the same building blocks as all Pega Platform applications.

Offline support is available for the Android, iOS, and Windows platforms. When you create applications in Pega Platform, they do not automatically support the offline mode. Make sure you design and build your applications according to the Offline mobility guidelines. Explore the following areas to learn about providing offline capability to your users and customers.

Offline-enabled applications make it possible to create cases and progress assignments while the device is disconnected from the network. Responsive, model-driven web apps that are generated by the Pega Platform can run in both online and offline mode. After you have created an offline-enabled application, your users do not have to perform any additional actions to use them.

When you create applications in Pega Platform, they do not automatically support the offline mode. To understand the difference in behavior between online and offline-enabled apps, as well as to set up an application, refer to the following documentation:

Pega Client for Windows is a native application that serves as a container for the Pega Platform applications. It works on Windows 10 devices and communicates with the Pega Platform server.
