Rule types and data classes are organized into categories as a learning and navigation aid.

Rule types in the Reports category define reports that support standard management reports, the Explorer tools, custom reports created and maintained in the Report Browser, and other facilities. This category includes five rule types:

Reports produced from list view rules and summary view rules are known as V5 reports. Pega recommends creating all new reports using report definitions, either directly or through the Report Browser, unless the report requires functionality only available through the older report types.

Any developer can create and maintain rules of these rule types. In addition, managers who create reports in the Report Browser also indirectly create report rules.

On the Application Explorer and Rules Explorer displays, theReports category icon identifies the Reports category.
