Components — Inputs

 

Styles set here apply to text input controls such as pxTextInput and pxTextArea, or fields that use drop-down select boxes. You can configure normal text, error text and placeholder text.

Inputs Style

To preview changes, save the rule and click Run (Run). In the Skin Preview, select the Controls tab.

NoteAt runtime, Error Text displays above the input field only if the value of Display Field-Level Errors, on the Display Options tab of the harness rule, is set to Displayed as Full Error Text. To see this in the Skin Preview, click in the Input field in the top panel, and then click a tab.
Inputs Style
If the value of Display Field-Level Errors in the harness rule is set to Displayed as Image with Tooltip, then the error message displays as tooltip using styles set in General>Errors display. See Skin form — Styles tab — General — Errors.

Use the same formatting for Normal and Error text

Applies the same settings to normal and error text. Clear this checkbox if you want define different styles for normal and error text. Additional fields appear.

For Normal Text and Error Text, specify the following:

Style Preset

Displays the currently selected Style Preset.

Click the magnifying glass () to select a different Style Preset from the Style Preset list.

Bold

Select this checkbox if you want the text to display in bold font-weight.

You can select this option when using a Style Preset or a custom border.

Use Custom Text

Select this checkbox to define a custom text format:

  • Font— Select the font family and size in pixels (px), points (pts), em (the current font size), or percentage (%). The font family defaults to (use overall), which is the font you specified in the Overall Font field in the Style Presets.
  • Color — Enter a hexadecimal value (such as #3d3d3d) or click the box next to the field to Choose a Color.
  • Bold — Select or clear the checkbox to determine the font-weight.
Placeholder Text

Enter a hexadecimal value (such as #3d3d3d) or click the box next to the field to Choose a Color for the placeholder text. Use the Placeholder setting in the control parameters dialog to specify the text that appears.

Use browser styles for border and background

To take advantage of styling features built into browsers (suggested), select this checkbox. Clear the checkbox to override the browser styles.
