Back Forward About the Project Management Communication Link

The project management communication link provides a real time connection between the Project Management Framework (PMF) and one or more development applications. Establishing this connection populates a developer’s project worklist within the Designer Studio. Developers can then link their rule changes to items from their PMF worklist.

When the link is enabled for an application, the project worklist displays on the Home tab of the Designer Studio and a Project Management section is added to the New, Save As, and Check In rule dialogs where you can link rule changes to items on your worklist. The communication link automatically sends updates to PMF based on the rule changes linked to PMF items by developers.  PMF records the rules, work effort and development notes in the associated project items in the framework.

For more information about PMF, see the PDN publicationPDN Project Management Framework User Guide.

Enabling the Communication link

You can enable the communication link between the framework and applications where development is taking place from the Project Management landing page tab. On this tab you can enter the settings that enable connectivity and enable/disable any or all of the applications and versions you can access.

Project Worklist

When an application is enabled, a project worklist appears in the Application Summary section of the Designer Studio Home tab. The worklist displays the open project work (user stories, tasks, bugs and issues) currently assigned to you in PMF. From the worklist, you can open, display and action the PMF items and display a list of the rule changes associated with your project assignments or all rule changes associated with project items.

Project Management section on New, Save As, and Check In dialogs

A Project Management section appears on the New, Save As, and Check In dialogs that captures the project item related to the rule change, allows you to enter the amount of effort spent and remaining for a task or bug, and create development notes for all items.

Direct Feedback feature

Application developers and testers can document and send feedback automatically to record bugs, problems, enhancements, and ideas related to applications in PMF by enabling and using the Direct Feedback (pushpin) Pushpinfeature. For more information about this feature and how to set it up in the framework, see the PDN publication PDNProject Management Framework User Guide.
