Back Forward ActiveX controls

An ActiveX control is Microsoft's term for an OCX file containing executable code that is downloaded from a network.

Firefox, Chrome, and Safari browsers do not support ActiveX controls; this means that any PRPC feature dependent on an ActiveX control may only be accessed by supported versions of Internet Explorer. See How to set up Internet Explorer for more details on how to configure your browser to accept ActiveX controls.

ActiveX controls shipped with PRPC are digitally signed by Pegasystems Inc. Application users and developers are prompted to download these controls as they encounter (or use) the dependent features for the first time.

NOTE: You are no longer required to download all shipped controls upon first login.

As part of the initiative to provide a fully cross browser, standards compliant Designer Studio, PRPC will be systematically removing ActiveX control dependencies where possible. See Understanding ActiveX controls and PRPC for details on what ActiveX controls remain in the system and how they are used.
