Back Forward Top-level case type

In a case management structure, a top-level case type is a case type that is not covered by another case type.

During business processing, its case instances have no parent cases.

On the Case Explorer, a top-level case descends directly from a work pool node, which can contain more than one top-level case type. Typically, the user instantiates a top-level case by selecting it in the New menu on the Case Manager portal. See Using the Case Explorer.
