About the Email wizard

Email messages are a key part of the business processes that developers build in their PRPC applications. Flow processing typically sends email messages to work parties, including people outside your organization such as customers and vendors. Additionally, incoming email messages can deliver work items to your business processes.

Use the Email Wizard to create the rules and data objects needed to manage incoming email messages that deliver work to an application, and outgoing messages that provide information to customers or other work parties. The wizard sets up an email service for sending and receiving mail. It generates an email account, an email listener data object, and an email service rule. The data mapping settings in the service rule map the data from incoming messages to standard email properties that your work classes inherit from the Work- base class, and map the response with two standard HTML rules. You can then edit the data mapping settings as appropriate for your configuration.

Before you begin

Before you begin, gather the following information.

For receiving an email that creates/manages a work object

• For the rules that manage the work item creation:
• • The name of the work class and the starting flow
  • The organization name
  • The RuleSet and version to use
• For the email account and the listener:
• • The host name or IP address of the SMTP host
  • The port number for the email server (typically 110 for POP3 and 143 for IMAP)
  • The email protocol the server uses: POP3 or IMAP
  • The User ID and password for the email account
  • Whether the email server requires the listener to use SSL to retrieve messages
  • The name of the mail folder the listener monitors
  • If the email service needs to run as an authenticated user, the operator ID it is to use

For configuring an email account

• The full name of the sender
• The email address of the sender
• The SMTP host name
• The port number for outgoing connections (default is 25)
• The Reply To address
• The User ID and Password for the SMTP email address
• Whether Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) will be used to send messages
• Whether you would like to apply a digital signature

Starting the wizard

• Select > Integration > Email > Email Wizard.
