Packaging an application

If you want to move your application to another server, first package the application and then export the .zip file. When you package an application using the Application Packaging Wizard, you create a product rule to collect all the elements that define your application (rules, organization elements, access groups, data types, data instances, and so on).

Tip: You can edit each listed application element.

  1. To start the Application Packaging wizard, click Designer Studio > Application > Distribution > Package.
  2. In the Application field, select the application that you want to package.
  3. Select the target ruleset version in which to generate the product rule.
    1. Specify which rulesets to display:

      • To display all of the rulesets specified in the Rule-Application instance of the selected application, select the check box.

      • To save the product rules in an industry application, Framework, or built-in application layer, select the check box.
      • To display only the rulesets that are not part of the currently selected application, clear the check box.

    2. In the Ruleset name field, enter the name of the ruleset in which the product rule should be created. This ruleset must be unlocked or the operation generates an error message.
    3. In the Ruleset version field, enter the version of the ruleset in which the product rule should be created.

Note: If you select a ruleset version that is in the application you are packaging, the product definition itself becomes part of the package.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Optional. Clear the check box next to each built-on application to exclude from the application, and then click Next.

Tip: To create a completely self-contained package, include all applications in the stack. If these dependent applications are not found, the future import of the application cannot be completed.

  6. Optional. Add the products and hotfixes required to deploy the application and click Next.
  7. Optional. Clear the check boxes next to each organization, organizational division, or organizational unit to exclude from the application, and click Next.
  8. Optional. Clear the check box next to each access group to exclude from the application, and then click Next.
  9. Optional. Clear the check box next to each operator to exclude from the application, and then click Next.
  10. Optional. Clear the check box next to each work basket to exclude from the application and then click Next.
  11. Optional. Clear the check box next to each work group to exclude from the application, and then click Next.
  12. Optional. Clear the check box next to each data table to exclude from the application, and then click Next.
  13. Optional. Select the Java code archives to include in the application and click Next.
  14. Optional. Select the check box next to each integration resource to include in the application.
