Summary



You see the below exception appear multiple times in the PegaRULES log.

Error Messages



com.pega.apache.http.conn.HttpHostConnectException: Connection to http://pdn.pega.com refused

Steps to Reproduce

Root Cause



The root cause of this problem is defect/misconfiguration in the PRPC operating environment.  PRPC attempts to access pdn.pega.com on every operator login to display the PDN News sidebar.  If the attempt is not successful, the exception is written to the PegaRULES log.


Resolution



Set the dynamic system setting AllowAccessToExternalSystem to "false".  This will remove the PDN News sidebar and prevent the error.
