Currency control incorrect when using non-Java locale code

SA-20562

Summary

The display of currency controls (pyCurrency) when the browser is set to a non-Java supported language or locale code is inconsistent and does not update properly.

While the control is set to display the selected currency symbol as three character currency code to the right, it instead displays the symbol to the left and always as "USD" if the browser is set to a non-Java supported language code (such as "de" for German) and does not respond to different currencies being selected.

Error Messages

Not Applicable.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Include a pyCurrency control in a section.
  2. Configure the pyCurrency control to display a currency based on a selection (such as from a drop down).
  3. Set the language of the browser to locale code with only one atom, such as: German [de].
  4. Choose a different currency than USD.

Root Cause

This issue was determined to be a product enhancement request, as Pega 7 only supports language or codes explicitly specified as supported by JDK/JRE.

These codes are generally in the format of two lowercase characters (which represent the language) followed by two uppercase characters (which represent the country or locale), separated by an underscore.

For example, "de_DE" represents the German language and the Germany locale.

Resolution

The browser's language or locale must be set to a code specifically supported by Java.

An enhancement request has been created for consideration by Pega Product Management to allow Pega to support a more extensive set of locale codes.
