Disk space issues on virtual machine instances

Summary



Developer uses Virtual Machine (VM) for Pega installations and frequently runs out of disk space which results in Pega 7 crashes.

The RuleMgmt directory using large amounts of space: /var/apache/apache-tomcat-8.0.33/work/Catalina/localhost/prweb/RuleMgmt

Steps to Reproduce



Install Pega 7 on a VM.


Root Cause



A software use or operational issue.

The RuleMgmt directory is used as a temporary directory, during import and export to extract archives and build archives respectively.

Some of the files are not removed immediately after use, and thus can build up over time.

Resolution



Perform the following local-change:

The contents can be deleted but ensure that there are no imports or exports happening on the node at the time of cleaning up the contents of this folder.
