Email not sent when userID and password are not specified

SA-7079

Summary

When calling CorrNew and SendEmailNotification out of the box activities, PRPC does not send emails and also reports no error in the logs. The email account rule that is being referenced does not specify a userID or password as the email server does not require these.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

Configure an email account with no UserID or password and attempt to send an email.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is a defect in Pegasystems’ code/rules. Authentication is being mandated in the code.

Resolution

This issue is resolved by hotfix item HFIX-20919. After the hotfix has been applied, open the SendEmailMessage function rule in the Pega-IntegrationEngine:07-10-16 RuleSet and generate the library by going to the Java tab and clicking on "generate Library" button. It is worth noting that this may not work if you use ‘localhost’ as the smtp hostname. Instead, use the actual hostname.
