File path is displaying as 'C:\fakepath\'

SA-1708

Summary

While uploading files from the application there is an issue, the filepath is displaying as a “C:\fakepath\NameOfFile”. Though there is no issue opening the file.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is in a third-party product integrated with PRPC. It is in fact the browser that feeds the “C:\fakepath\” text in. According to the specifications of HTML5, a file upload control should not reveal the real local path to the file you have selected if you manipulate its value string with JavaScript. Instead, the string that is returned by the script, which handles the file information is "C:\fakepath\".

Resolution

If the PRPC instance URL is added to the trusted sites list, the issue will go away.
