Infinitive horizontal scrolling in IE 11

SA-51301

Summary

Post upgrade to Pega 7.3.1, user noticed poor UI behavior that came about as a result of the upgrade with Internet Explorer 11.

Specifically, user encountered Layouts that are causing horizontal scrolling due to a huge space being used/allocated to the UI.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch Case Manager 7 portal.
  2. In Perform Harness, move to a Flow Action that renders the Request Details section as part of the overall UI.
  3. Observe the horizontal scrolling issue.

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules:

The issue is concerned to dynamic layouts with Optimized code layout mode.

There are issues with dynamic layouts and Internet Explorer if Layout mode of "Optimized code" is chosen.

This is the mode set during upgrade if Flexbox was the original layout mode.

The limitations in Internet Explorer means that there is only partial support for Flex containers. Internet Explorer does not correctly detect the size of the container for Flexbox items, and as a result, makes the fields inside the Flexbox stretch to an extreme degree.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:

Switch the Layout mode to "Legacy code".
