Modal dialogue incorrectly resizes with IE 11 compatibility mode

SA-20620

Summary

When launching a modal dialogue that has form elements, the modal incorrectly resizes the height when any of the form elements are clicked.

This occurs in IE11 edge mode with compatibility view mode on.

Error Messages

Screen resizes until it reaches 100% of the modal background.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch a modal (using pyModalTemplate) in IE11 edge document mode and compatibility view browser mode.
  2. Click on any form element within the modal that is checkbox, text-input, radio button, and so on.

Root Cause

Internet Explorer 11 is using an incompatible viewing mode. Pega 7 applications should be dispalyed in IE 11 Native mode (instead of Compatibility mode) using Edge HTML document display.

Resolution

To work around a corporate requirement to have IE in an incompatible mode, update the Harness rules for any harnesses which are affected by this issue by performing these steps:

1. In the Harness rule, under the Advanced tab, find the option to set the document type and IE Document Mode.
2. Fill in "IE=Edge" to force the harness to display in that mode, and use Document Type HTML5 (standards mode) to force IE 11 to display natively.
