No multiple window warning in Pega 7 with multiple tabs

SA-15059

Summary

In IE11 and Firefox browsers, on opening a Pega application in multiple tabs, the multiple session warning ("You have an existing PRPC session running") is not generated. Instead, the application displays in both tabs. In PRPC 6 platform, a multiple window warning would appear and prevent access in multiple tabs.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

1. Upgrade the application from PRPC 6.1 SP2 to Pega 7.1.7.
2. Open application in multiple tabs of same window.

Root Cause

The warning window system was removed between PRPC 6.3 SP1 and Pega 7.1 and replaced with a different system.

Resolution

In Pega 7 platform, when a duplicate window is focused, a portal refresh is triggered to maintain the current state of the session. This ensures that multiple tabs or windows never lead to a situation where a tab displays stale data, while eliminating user interaction with the extra step of the warning window.
