Nodes disappear from SMA after restart

SA-17580

Summary

There are 2 server with 6 nodes. After restarting the servers, the nodes do not appear in SMA. An error message displays on screen.

Error Messages

There are no nodes to be connected / nodes having a valid connection

Steps to Reproduce

1. Configure the environment for 6 nodes and 2 servers.
2. Restart the servers. The nodes disappear in SMA.

Root Cause

A defect or configuration issue in the operating environment, the Nodes.xml file was revised to its initial state on every restart of server.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:
  • If the location of the Nodes.xml is correct, then add few nodes in SMA and check the Nodes.xml file for multiple ‘Node’ tags.
  • If there are multiple ‘Node’ tags, then perform backup of that file and restart the server by adding the JVM property to your application server as ‘-Dcom.pega.sma.tmpdir=/SYSTEM/tmp/SMA’ and replace ‘/SYSTEM/tmp/SMA’ with the location where you plan to store the Nodes.xml file after backup.
