Pega temp folder filled with *.dat files

Files in the form of [alpha-numeric string]oldstream.dat appear in the Pega temp folder.

Steps to Reproduce



Normal use of system causes this problem.

Root Cause



A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules
DirectStreamEncoderV7 returns a large encoder back to the pool. This encoder remains in the system until the system is bounced. The encoder is put back into the encoder pool when freed, which should not occur. The .dat files contain debug information.


Resolution



The .dat files are safe to delete or to ignore.

Alternatively, update or upgrade to Pega 7.2 or later release.
