The .pyName property is limited to 30 characters in BIX

SA-2698

Summary

When trying to save an extract rule with the output format specified as "Database Schema" and with a Page-Lists referencing other Page-Lists with a "To Table" name length greater than 30 characters an error displays, preventing the rule from being saved.

Error Messages

.pyName:
** 'To Table' field length of "Property" cannot be more than 30 characters.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Install BIX on 7.1.6
2. Create a Data Structure using .pyName
3. Create an Extract Rule exporting .pyName to an External Database
4. Click Save Error appears.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is in a third-party product integrated with PRPC. T
his is a limitation of the database, which does not support table names that are longer than 30 characters.

Resolution

As this is a limitation of the database, the only work around is to shorten the length of the table name you're specifying. This error should actually appear anytime the "To Table" name length is greater than 30 characters, and a bug has been submitted for this to be addressed in future releases with a specific warning.
