Spell check not working in IE 11

SA-5186

Summary

In IE11 the pxIconSpellChecker control and the spell check action does not work. Upon the user clicking on the icon, the screen flashes but nothing happens.

Error Messages

N/A

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a Section.
2. Use a Text Area.
3. Use the pxIconSpellChecker control.
4. Type a misspelled word in the Text area and try to launch the spell checker, the screen will flash, but spell checker does not behave as it should.

Root Cause

The javascript API's used for spell check are deprecated in IE11 and there are no alternative API's to replace them. The spell check action functions like it does on Chrome and Firefox.

Resolution

This issue can be worked around by using the built in browser spell check by right clicking on the misspelled word and then selecting a valid word. The issue can also be worked around by using a rich text editor control with spell check enabled on the control.
