Back Forward Federated Case Management

Federated Case Management (FCM) uses Internet Application Composer (IAC) connectivity to establish case management relationships between one PRPC system (the control system ) where users create and work on cases in an application hosted on anotherV6.3+ PRPC system (the remote system). This approach eliminates the need to create services and connectors for intersystem communications, or the need to replicate features of the remote case type in the control system's application.

The FCM user interface allows users on the control system to:

FCM systems can be chained; that is, a control system can also be employed as a remote system.

The Federated Case Management basic configuration steps are:

  1. On the control system, install the Gateway Configuration Console web application, which supports the deployment of an IAC system. For instructions, see the PDN article 26119, Configuring IAC with the Gateway Configuration Console.
  2. On the control system, create a Remote System data instance that provides information about the remote system. See About Remote System data instances.
  3. On the remote system, open the referenced case type rule and configure the Advanced tab. See Case Type form — Completing the Advanced tab.
  4. On the control system, create a remote (abstract) case type and case type rule using the Case Designer ( > Process & Rules > Case Management > Case Designer ). See Process and Rules category — Case Designer.
  5. On the control system, open the remote case type rule and configure the Remote Case Configuration tab. See Case Type form – Completing the Remote Case Configuration tab.
