Purpose

Create a report definition by selecting Report Definition from the Reports category.

A report definition has two key parts:

Field

Description

Applies To

SmartPrompt Select a class that this report definition applies to. Select a concrete class, or select a work pool to report on all work types in the work pool. (Such reports can only present properties that are common to all work types in the work pool.)

NoteYou can't use an external class as the Applies To class.

Advanced For certain uses, you can select an abstract class (such as Work-) for this field. When a report definition with an abstract Applies To class executes, PRPC determines a work pool or a single concrete class that is the source of report contents. For example, a report definition with Work- as the Applies To key part can present drill-down details, referenced in another report definition (that itself has a concrete work type as the Applies To class.)

The classes you can enter here may depend on the RuleSet you select. On the Restrictions tab of the Class form, a class rule may limit rules applying to that class to belong to one of an explicit list of RuleSets.

Report Name

Enter a name that is a valid Java identifier. Begin the name with a letter, and use only letters, digits, and the dash character. See How to enter a Java identifier.

For general information about this form see Completing the new rule dialog box.

Rule resolution

Full rule resolution applies to report definition rules. When searching for report definition rules, the system:
